Therapy and Psychiatry, Under One Roof

Your Guide to Feeling Like Yourself Again

Life hits hard sometimes. Your mind races, tasks pile up, and that voice in your head won't give you a break. You're successful in some areas but struggling in others, and you're tired of white-knuckling your way through it. We get it. At Wave Point Counseling, we work with individuals who are ready to build better systems, quiet the noise, and show up as the person they actually want to be.

A Therapist Who Gets It

I know what it’s like to struggle. I was diagnosed with a learning disability at six years old and was held back in first grade. I went through a rough patch in college, transferred schools, dealt with depression, and came out the other side with a deep understanding of what young men face when life feels heavy. That experience drove me to become a therapist, and it’s why I connect so well with clients who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or like they’re constantly falling short.

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a Master’s in Social Work from Simmons University and a Certificate in College Counseling from UCLA Extension. I’ve spent seven years working with men ages 14–40, tackling everything from anxiety and life transitions to executive functioning struggles and confidence issues. My approach combines Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and practical tools like physical exercise, because sometimes you need to move your body to clear your mind.

I also worked as an admissions reader at Pitzer College, so I understand the pressure young adults face during the college application process and how to help them navigate it. Whether you meet with me in person in Los Angeles or connect online, you’ll get a hands-on therapist who uses humor, meets you where you are, and helps you build the life you actually want.

Dr. Laurence Lorefice - Board Certified Psychiatrist

Sometimes therapy alone isn't the picture. When medication might help, having a psychiatrist as part of your care team changes everything.

Dr. Laurence Lorefice is Luke's father, and after over three decades in practice, he's joining Wave Point Counseling to offer psychiatric evaluation and medication management alongside the therapy work Luke does. The combination of talk therapy and psychiatric care under one roof means you don't have to coordinate between two separate providers or repeat your story twice.

Dr. Lorefice specializes in psychopharmacology, which is the treatment of psychiatric conditions with medication. The conditions he most commonly treats are:

  • Depression

  • Bipolar Disorder (Manic Depressive Illness)

  • Anxiety

  • Panic Disorder
